Four Spiritual Routines to Change Your Life

Welcome to spirituality! YAY! You found me - a serious advocate for your soul's spiritual alignment!

To achieve a truly aligned and blissful life, this quote isn't exactly accurate. Unless you are completely satisfied with your life, and I know you're not because you're reading this article, change is definitely necessary.

Let's start here:

  • What are your morning routines - the first actions you do when you awake in the morning?
  • What are your evening routines - the last actions you take before you close your eyes to sleep?

If your practices do not involve all of the following, I welcome you to consider what your excuse is and (more importantly) why you're using that particular excuse. I use the word "excuse" purposefully because if you're not doing these things, my experience with my clients leads me to believe your life is probably a living hell - handling one challenge after another - illness, dissatisfaction, depression, anxiety, etc. One of my favorite mentors, James Arthur Ray, said, "When is NOW the time (to change)?"

Our habits are why our life is the way it is. If our life isn't what we want it to look like, there's only one person to blame - OURSELF.

Want to change your life for the better right now? Adopt these four habits today.

(1) Gratitude Journal. I write down items/things I am grateful for both first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I add only items/things that are different from one day to the next. Thinking about gratitude is great, but writing it down is powerful for our human brains. For some crazy reason, we believe it more if it's written down. Want to start noticing all the things you have in your life to be grateful for? Write them down.

(2) Meditate. This is a funny one. Everyone tells us to meditate, but few discuss what meditation looks like. For me, if it allows me to be so focused I lose time doing it, that's meditation. When I do art, or play music, or do a puzzle, or run, or do yoga, or sit silently, all of that is meditation. Any activity where we allow ourselves to “quiet our monkey mind” - releasing the challenges of daily life - helps us focus on being in the moment. When we're focused on being in the moment, we allow God/Universe to provide us with the divine inspiration and guidance we need to make leaps and bounds of advancement in our lives. Meditation has been proven to be the most effective first thing in the morning because it sets the tone for the rest of our day. Admittedly, it took me a long time to convert my late-night circadian rhythms to acknowledge how valuable a morning routine is to my life. Believe me when I tell you it is worth it!

(3) Luxurious Self Care. As a society, humans are pulled in so many directions, it’s easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life. It is imperative to make time for ourselves. I'm not talking about getting our hair or nails done. Those are lovely practices of self-maintenance. Rather, I'm referring to how we care for ourselves beyond the necessities of life. What fills you up? What makes you feel special? What do you LOVE doing that you don't already do for yourself? If we are waiting for someday to pursue what we want, we are keeping that self-care in the future. For me, when I was first starting to pursue my wealth, the number one thing on my luxury self-care list was to have facials regularly. To shift my experience of, "Facials are out of my price range," to one of, "I am worth the investment in myself," I started by giving myself an at-home facial every month, and now I allow myself to receive facials at a spa every month.

(4) Mentorship. If you do not already have a mentor, it is time to hire one. If you are reading this, it is not a mistake that now is the time the Universe is calling you to step up and invest in yourself. If you want to learn a skill you've always put on the back burner - singing, dancing, business, auto-mechanics, etc. - it's time to make yourself a priority. The importance of hiring a mentor versus learning from free sources is all about the energetic exchange of believing you are worth it. It doesn't have to take a lot of money, but the moment you invest in yourself, energetically you are committing yourself to advancement - physically, spiritually, and financially.

If you add these four things to your routine, I guarantee your life will improve exponentially. If you're already doing these things and your life is still not idyllic, it's time to examine each of them and adjust to your new and improved stage of evolution. Not sure what that means? Schedule a call with Jamie to discuss it further.

Are you pursuing a lost cause?

SUNDAY SASS from SOUL HEART ENTERTAINMENT

“Are You Pursuing A Lost Cause?"
by Jamie Allen Bishop, MA

Everyone knows there are some pursuits not worth our time, effort and energy, but while on the quest, how do we know which pursuits are worth it?

Honestly, the answer to this question is to innately trust our intuition and know (without a doubt) our intuition is NEVER wrong.

That said, spending time wisely is the most important spending one can do in life and in business. There is a subtle difference in the definition comparing a challenge to a lost cause. The small difference between the two perspectives makes a HUGE difference in a business bank account.

By my definition, a challenge is something that takes effort and (perhaps) time but won't take me off track from my goal(s), while a lost cause is something that takes more time than it is worth.

How do we tell the difference between the two when we are trying to succeed in business?

For me, it comes down to a matter of how time is spent on my business AND whether that time is income-producing.

When I think of my early experience as an entrepreneur, I remember all too well the 80+% of my time spent preparing - putting my goals in the future and pursuing activities that allowed my business to remain just outside the parameters of success. I spent a lot of time preparing things - calendars, to-do lists, contact lists, etc. I also spent a lot of time avoiding the very activity that I knew would make a huge difference to my income - inviting the people I enjoy to become my client.

All my time spent on preparation falls into the “lost cause” category of my business, not because the tasks aren’t important or necessary, but rather because the tasks are not income-producing activities. Indeed what I spent time on is what my business gave me - all preparation (along with a whole lot of expectation) and almost zero income.

Now, I spend 80% of my time on income-producing activities, 10% of my time preparing, and 10% of my time educating myself on the latest and greatest ways to pursue my business venture. After all, William S. Burroughs said, “When you stop growing you start dying.”

This may seem counterintuitive, spending only 10% preparing, but the truth is, I have spent a great deal of time preparing just to be disappointed by the event or the program not going according to plan. When I spend my time gaining clients, my business earns an income that helps me create jobs for others and helps me elevate the world - one soul at a time... my business mission.

My goal this year or Soul Heart Entertainment is to elevate a minimum of 1,000,000 (one million) souls. That means Soul Heart Entertainment provides entertainment for approximately 1,700 parties every week across the United States and Canada. That's about 34 parties per state/province each week.

If I spend most of my time preparing, then preparation is what's most important to my business. If I'm not spending at least 50% of my time meeting new potential clients, building relationships in my community, and (most importantly) contacting my potential customers, my business will remain stagnant, underachieving, and underproducing.

I am so excited to pursue such a lofty goal, and the only way to achieve it is through action. I am focusing on spreading the word about Soul Heart Entertainment, booking parties, and hiring the ideal talent to entertain at those parties.

Be certain to avoid lost causes in your business ventures, but challenges are worth your time. What are your goals (in life and/or in business) and what actions are you taking to achieve them?

Hell on Earth

"Hell on Earth"
by Jamie Allen Bishop

Written on 7/20/2019

Everyone has their own version of hell on Earth.

I've heard it said in many different ways, "Some have it worse than others."

What does that mean? Honestly, I have to say I completely disagree with that statement.

While it may "look" like one version of someone's hell is worse than another person's version of hell, everyone is going through their own version of hell on earth at any given moment in time while navigating this thing we call life. The phrase, "walk a mile in someone else's shoes," comes to mind.

Here's an example of what I mean.

I have, what may seem to an outside observer, an ideal life. I have a fabulous job that pays very well. I have a loving husband who is devoted to our family. I have an incredible child full of talent and love and a fabulous future. I am healthy. I am intelligent. I have advanced degrees. I have a multitude of certifications. I have friends who care. I have extended family members who love me. I have everything going for me. Right? And, yet, over the past three years, I have suffered dramatic bouts of emotional and physical strain that have brought me to the brink of suicide many, many times.

I speak of these things in the present tense because they are still that fresh in my experience. Though it has been more than four whole months since I've had suicidal ideations, no one except my very close family and friends would have realized exactly what I have been up against these past few years. And, honestly speaking, even some of my "close" family/friends didn't know.

I had been dealing with a vast array of chronic illnesses brought on by extreme amounts of work-related stress as well as a chemically toxic work environment. As if my physical illnesses weren't enough, my birth-father died, my best-friends' husband has a terminal brain tumor, and I have a nephew who was (silently) struggling with two illnesses simultaneously that affects only 2 people in the whole of the world - illnesses that, combined, may have spelled his death as a teen... which brought me back to memories of a wonderful friend from high school who died as a teen in a similar way.

With a work environment of extreme disrespect and immense pressure, and with my self-esteem so low, I read my life insurance policy closely, and seriously considered suicide options that would ease the financial struggles of both my immediate family and my nephew's family. Fortunately, I sought help, worked through it all, and have come through the struggle a stronger and wiser woman.

With first-hand knowledge, I can attest that living with suicidal ideations are a legitimate version of hell on earth.

All-in-all, I feel extremely fortunate to have the support in place that I have. I feel confident that I would be able to call upon any number of people to help me through the times I have recently experienced, which is something not everyone can say. I am grateful to be alive.

While I cannot attest with first-hand knowledge the struggles other people face, stories of their own hell on earth are their crosses to bear. Stories might go like this: being abused or molested; finding oneself homeless; struggling with addiction or mental illness/instability; facing the aftermath of having been assaulted; facing life as a convicted criminal - both before and after being caught; struggling with health (whatever form of health struggles take). My goodness! To say one person's story is "worse" than another person's story is a helluva stone to throw in this glass house called life.

It doesn't matter what the story is. Every story is real to that person, at that moment. The story is all-powerful, all-consuming, and all-knowing. The story is the god, and the god is a vengeful one.

Which version of hell is better or worse than the other? Some may say a child with cancer is worse. Some may say feeling suicidal is worse. Some may say living with addiction is worse. Some may say having been molested is worse. No matter what hell you may be living through, know there are people who care and resources in place to help. Every single person can obtain the information needed, and libraries are the best places to find your local resources.

I do not have any connection to these resources, nor have I verified them. However, here is some information to get you started should you ever find yourself (or someone you love) in need of help.

Much love to you in your life, and whatever hell on earth you might be experiencing.

THIS, TOO, SHALL PASS!!!
